$unday
There really is nothing like playing poker on a Sunday. Firstly, it's the official day of rest for the week, so there's usually lots of lovely free time to be used up. And secondly, the tables are the softest they're gonna get all week in my considered opinion. I played for 5 hours, finished $700 up, but for a couple of 2-outers it could have been almost $3k. Both times I flopped a set against the overpair, got the money in, and he hits his 2 outer on the turn or river. Against the same guy. For a total of about $2k. A little infuriating but that's poker etc.
Also, had a guy so locked up he had a 1-outer for the split and that was all. It was actually funny when he hit it. But probably just cos it was a relatively small pot.
Anyway, the bankroll is creeping up nicely, and I've been very pleased with my play of late. Which I think is about all you can hope for. It's definitely building up my confidence nicely for our impending trip to Vegas. 19 days and counting til we hit up Sin City for a week of poker and debauchery (probably more poker). Last time we were there (about 18 months ago), I was more used to 0.25c/0.50c games so the $1/$2 tables were a little daunting. I ended up playing so tight it was ridiculous. This time, however, things will be a little different - and the prospect of losing hundreds of dollars in a hand won't scare me. In fact, I think I'll be spending my time on the 2/5s, with maybe even some 5/10 if I'm running good. I've never had the balls to play any 5/10 online, but I figure Vegas is the perfect place to throw caution to the wind, and experiment a little. I'm not treating it as a working holiday, so if I happen to blow all my profit on an ill conceived session on the 5/10s then so be it. What happens in Vegas...
